I once went swimming in Lake Michigan on Christmas which inspired the first verse. The sand was cold, then we went in the freezing water, came out, and the sand felt warm.
lyrics
Down by the beach in November
the sand on our feet is so cold.
No one will know what they’re saying.
No one will say what they know.
Deep time,
deep time.
About the time our eyes met
we’d tried it.
Before the words began to form
we’d said it all.
Future became history.
All the things you’ll say to me
are written on the wall.
